Take It and Weave It! with Jennifer Anne Studios £40

  • Framin' Art 35 High Street Downham Market, England, PE38 9HF United Kingdom (map)

Learn to weave with whatever materials you have around you, with just a needle and thread! No loom is needed to create these exciting works of art. Whether it’s a rock, block of wood or twigs, I will work with you to set up a warp on the object and begin weaving a range of patterns. No need to worry if you are a complete beginner to weaving, we will start by simply breaking down a few key fundamentals and explaining the method.

This is a fun light-hearted workshop, exploring the fun possibilities of weave using a range of found objects. There are many possibilities to explore, whether that’s materials, yarns, or patterns. Be as bold or as simple as you like, the aim is to understand how woven textiles can be adapted to whatever you have around you, add a dash of pizazz to something otherwise boring and create your own unique art works!

All materials are provided, including sustainable yarns made from natural plant products and recovered waste yarns. However, please feel free to bring any objects, materials, or yarns you may like to use. You may also like to bring your own scissors and tapestry needles, but I do have some to lend.

Come along to a fun and unique workshop at Framin’ Arts, Downham Market from 10am – 2pm to meet like-minded individuals, chat all things crafty and enjoy some tea and cake!

About Jennifer Anne Studios

An emerging textile and fibre artist from Norfolk, Jenny specialises in hand woven textiles pushing technique and fibre in unusual and contemporary ways. Being a sustainability advocate, Jenny opts for more environmentally friendly fibre and yarn choices which results in the play and experimentation of otherwise wasted materials.

After graduating from Textile Design specialising in weave in 2019, Jenny is currently studying her Master’s at Nottingham Trent University continuing her research within the technical exploration of hand woven cloth in conjunction with the relationship between fibre and cloth and normalisation of using waste-by product materials within the textiles industry. As well as weaving, Jenny is an avid spinner who enjoys pushing the boundaries of unconventional materials and exploring these potentials within her weaves. Being awarded a top scholar by the Worshipful Company of Weavers in 2021, Jenny has been recognised for her advanced skills, innovative approach and sophisticated research within textiles.
