Audacious Eclecticism

A board consisting of woven samples from the first phase of my final year degree in Textile Design. The woven samples are made up of synthetic yarns to allow for longevity. The samples are woven using a deflected double cloth threading and a half pointed half straight threading to create these abstract, unique structures that in conjunction with the yarns has created a durable and interesting cloth quality. Yarn wrappings show the colour and yarn combinations to create the bold samples.

After reviewing my work from phase 1, I decided that I felt I was at a dead end and needed to change directions slightly in order to become more inspired and motivated towards my project. I ended up taking a spin on my initial project and looking into vintage and retro inspiration rather than just ‘nostalgia’. This has allowed me to explore more niche and unique areas which has sparked creative and exciting outcomes.

This sample is from another warp I produced entirely made up of fancy yarns. I felt much more in my element with this warp and was able to create some interest textures and different weights of fabrics. I used similar lifting plans to the lambs wool warp but the difference the yarns has is really interesting. They’re also larger scale.

This is a progress photo of layering up my samples with other work such as mood boards and inspiration. By doing this it was interesting to see how all my work is beginning to work together.©JennywDesigns

This is a sample I produced on the TC2 loom which is made up of a lot of fluffy fibres. Here I am trying it out as a jumper sleeve on the body.©JennywDesigns
